yoohoooo!

so there goes the first week of semester 3.1. hmm...looks like there's alot to be done. visited the FHA 2006, thanks to sarah for the complimentary passes! it was indeed an eye-opener for me. ('mouth-opener' as well, lots of yummy food to try. US PORK makes very nice cheese sausages!) you look at those brands, you try the food, but i don't think many of the brands will be retailed to plebeians like us, it is afterall a trade-only event. sigh..if not i would have bought some US PORK. or are there US PORK sold out there? if you see it, lemme know ok? bran loves delicatessen. anyway, why aren't hospitality events front-page news-worthy? no one knew that singapore's national culinary team led by our own TP chefs won top honours at international competitions, beating other culinary powerhouses. but everyone knows who won what, who lost what in sporting events. hmm..

oh! oh! whee! i'm on the director's honours list again! happy?

this is a female, the dark brown one is a male

friday

yes yes, went for xiao long bao dinner with bran yesterday. he finally succumbed to his craving. and i woke up so early today to accompany c hwee to the japan embassy, which is in a really withdrawn area along nassim road. i really hope she'll get the scholarship, the terms and benefits are definitely attractive.

anyway..has anyone seen, or heard of a hamster leash before?

bran got this novelty more than a month ago and i found it very amusing. you're supposed to put this leash on the poor hamster and walk it, like this.

haha i tried it on ham and it looked so agonized when i tried to put it on. his body is so soft and flabby that you would have to tighten it so much to secure it, if not he can easily get out of that thing. anyway, i've read that hamsters are not meant to be leashed because it'll hurt the hamster's neck, lungs, windpipe blah blah blah...

see that bran! hee! bran was so disappointed to know that he won't be able to walk ham. he'll be here in 5 and i'm going down to open the gate for him now. tata.

food trip

we left for ipoh on friday evening for a very late qing ming, and this time bran and xueling tagged along for a brief food escapade. yum yum.

since this was the first time bran and xueling were visiting ipoh, my aunt had planned to bring them to some caves and shopping malls but bran and i slept the satu
rday afternoon away. we were too tired! next time then..after many bowls of ice kacang, wanton, char kway teow and a very filling dim sum breakfast, we returned on sunday afternoon. if my brother and bran didn't need to return to camp and school respectively, we wouldn't have come back so soon.

i am so miserable. this is the last week of the holidays already.

the passing of a fine educator

Ms Haslindah Jais, form teacher of 5A'98 & 6A'99 BLGPS, passed away last night, Tuesday 11 April 2006.

Her life was meaningful. From now on, all that's left of her is the wealth of knowledge she has passed on, her moulding of young children into fine youths, and memories of her in my heart.

when royce text me this evening, i had already anticipated something awful even before he announced it. this is so hard to fathom.

beyond boredom

whee! this is one cool tuesday. my parents and i made ourselves cosy in the hall and watched 3 hours of lost, and i fell asleep again. i've only been awake for a total of 9 hours today and i can feel my eyes closing already.

i write one paragraph a day for my reflective jo
urnal on the trip, and i'm so glad i'm almost done.

caught jiexian online this afternoon and as usual, she was sleeping at work and was caught by her supervisor. her hostel is on the same floor as her office and they have wireless internet connection. how cool is that! you can just wake up 10mins before work. and isn't china still in the internet cafe era?

i was stroking a baby hamster while watching tv and it leaped out of my hands and landed on its back. i picked it up again and placed it on my lap, it made itself comfortable and peed on me. that ungrateful thing.

supposedly famous

look at the spread, and it's only the beginning of the meal

gaah...i want xiaolongbaos. the best i can find here are at tunglok at liang court but that's too out of the way, or settle for crystal jade at jurong point. bran and i went for xiaolongbao supper the night before i left, but the authentic ones at shanghai tastes so much better.

byebye jiexian

see hwee, gloria, jiexian, me, tzzzzzze wan (without kit and ziting)

woke up at an ungodly hour to reach the airport by 7.30am to send jiexian off. she's off to beijing for 6 months for her attachment. hope you're pleasantly surprised jiexian! and i really hope you'll like the tassie devil, because i spent 10 mins in the queue for that! see hwee's from law & management (haha! my favourite girl. she's really maniacal and and whimsical), gloria and jiexian from communications & media management and tzzzzzzzzzze wan's from general business. we all met last april at our bizzare 3-module CDS and went kooky on our china trip. i can't believe we all got distinctions for both languages for our O's. yep, that's the basic criteria for taking up this CDS, before taking a written test and an interview.

gloria, see hwee and i went to marina square in search of the jay chou endorsed meters/bonwe shop at marina square which tze wan claimed to have seen. we've never noticed MB until we went to china where everything, from mineral water to cup noodles to whatever is celebrity endorsed. we had gone there for the fun of it, but we ended up ringing up a $300 bill at MB alone. and it's only the beginning of the month.

all of us sans tze wan
